WHY is there no decrease in the violence against women and children?
BECAUSE we are dealing with symptoms and ignoring the cause of violence.
We tell women and children (if they have the courage and the words) to speak out after the fact – yet this must continue; support structures must increase.
BUT: Most perpetrators of violence and abuse
are men.
(Men on men violence is rife – and nobody seems to care)
A high percentage of perpetrators were first victims of mental, emotional, verbal, physical, sexual or psychological abuse.
As a society, we are sending the message that men’s pain is a non-issue.
‘Cowboys don’t cry’
They are excluded from the slogan against violence.
There is nowhere to go. They are not asked to ‘speak out’.
We are NOT healing our men – hence the cycle continues.
SOLUTION: Include and encourage our men to identify and express their own pain in order to set the example for the young ones.
We are all in this together – let’s prevent violence and abuse in our society.
“NO VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN, CHILDREN AND MEN!”
