Usually this time of the year I look back over the past year in the hope that the new one will be better but This year will no doubt make way for a horrid 2014 filled with pain as we continue to fight E-toll oppression, as more revelations of corruption in and out of government emerge, with increased worker exploitation and inequality almost guaranteed.
What a year it’s been! Looking back it makes one dizzy at all the shenanigans (in and out of government)t that kept us so glued to our tv’s, newspapers, phones, tablets, pc’s or laptops we could hardly keep up, there’s just not enough hours in the day to take in all the silliness, lies and misdemeanours of our fellow South Africans.
The DA was at its annoying best as always, a party whose members are so backwards and in denial they are still split between a White caucus and a Black caucus.
Just as we are getting over our shock and disgust from one revelation, another is uncovered, murkier and more disgusting than the last – it’s a fight to the finish on who can go the lowest but Judy and Tokyo’s nasty divorce fight ranks right at the top of all the rubbish we’ve seen this year, rich people fighting over money!!!? Cyril Ramaphosa, a union leader in his day demanding “concomitant” measures be taken against miners who were simply fed-up of being paid peanuts for the death-defying work they do, why? So that Cyril can sit sipping the best champagne at polo matches with his new best friends, so that he can bid R18 000 000 on prize bulls, so that his boss can build
A dream mansion with fire pools for him and his friends that would leave Hugh Hefner green with envy - and has anyone ever heard of any President with a private clinic inside his yard for his sole use courtesy of taxpayers money?
Testing all our resolve, patience and goodwill, working on our very last nerve is Nazir Alli of Sanral, if South Africans do not win this fight, we might as well all roll over and play dead.
The election looms, vote wisely – the only respite we can look forward to next year is the mouth-watering Oscar Pistorious trial (IF it ever gets going in 2014 given the fact that our entire Justice system and all its resources will be used to track down and turn taxpayers into criminals for using our urban roads that the National Party built (Not even They stole them and charged us!)
We all know that Oscar is getting off, the Only thing that keeps us in suspense is HOW he will get off, we can look forward to many amusing headlines, swimming pools will be called “fire pools”, his lawyers will poke a million holes into our ill-trained detectives’ and investigators” case even though it is in reality a cut and dry case, in America they call it an ‘open and shut case’, Oscar’s lawyers’ will make Priests sound like Beelzebub himself, Oscar will weep (not out of regret or shame, but for the millions of rands’ he loses while the trial commences) – and when it’s all said and done, Zuma the wily old fox and prison escape artist will have outwitted, outlasted, and outplayed everyone else as he giggles his way into another few years by the grace of God and all the old-age pensioners, disability grant and child support recipients - you dear reader, will be expected to shut up and cough up, and offer up your congratulations, nauseating as that is.
