2016 Municipal Elections.
The 2014 national and provincial elections have hardly been put to bed, and parties within South Africa, are already expressing their fear and concern of what may happen come the 2016 municipal elections, more so within the ANC!
That the African National Congress has lost major support in the Metropolitan areas is a given, and that the need to be concerned is a fact. The Democratic Alliance made great inroads into their support base, and with the new ‘kid on the block’ which we don’t know if they will be still around in 2016, the ruling government urgently needs introspection into what they are doing and or did to have lost this kind of support.
That the Democratic Alliance has its goal on governing the Johannesburg and Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipalities is no secret, and judging from the past election results, their contest can be a fierce one to say the least.
The citizens in the area, seem to have lost their loyal compass support of the African National Congress as they become more and more educated and realize that those promises that has been made in the last four elections, have remained exactly that.
Yes, certain advances have been made, but those advances have been made, not because they have been financed from ANC coffers, they are indeed a consequence of the tax that those that do have to pay, have paid into state coffers for them to administer. This the gullible citizen in South Africa need to realize that it is not the ANC that provides but indeed the taxpayers and hopefully by 2016 they would have realized this.
The ruling government in its 20 years of governing the country, has spent or is it lost the absurd amount of R 880 billion, that is Eight Hundred and Eighty Thousand Million Rand on irregular, unauthorized, wasteful and fruitless expenditure, which has been confirmed by the Auditor General. That extrapolates to over R 40 billion (or Forty Thousand Million Rand per year) that is wasted and cannot be accounted for. Just imagine what could have been done with that money had it been spent properly. Proper Health Care, Schooling but to mention but a few, yet someone within the ambit of Government considered it at the time, that his personal agenda and wealth are of more importance than those people on ground level, and ‘cashed in major’ by increasing his/her personal greed and bank balance beyond anyone’s realization. This is a sad state of affairs that we are faced with on a daily basis, yet we still trust (if the chairperson of the IEC didn’t manipulate the results) the ruling government to once again steal, abuse, mismanage and misuse funds and fiscus that should have been applied in a better way. We need to wake up to what we are experiencing and be educated to the fact that we are being manipulated in view of our lack of education which these days stands at a pass rate of 30% to classify you as properly educated
