The case of the truck driver who mashed four taxis in KZN is one of the most unfortunate and undesired events any young man can ever wish for. I do believe that in all the wounds and sins that we make, our minds know very well that we will somehow in our lives pay for them.
As an individual, you obviously do as much as your gauge can allow, your body can endure, your heart can take and your conscious can bear. No one man, living a normal life, with no history of any carnage can wake up to kill 22 people all at once.
Based on this we can argue in court that this was an honest mistake from the young, we can argue that it was not his fault in order to reduce his sentence. We can pin this to the company the young man is working for.
Yes we should in fact. If I am a driver, that young there are very small chances that I know anything about servicing trucks of such size, nor will one company give one person such huge responsibilities. So a good company will obviously have a servicing centre and a separate set of drivers. So as much as Sanele can go down, a company will have to follow suite.
A twist though, the company has out smarted the worker as expected. They have appointed the lawyer, who will by all means necessary protect the company and leave the young man to rot in jail. Are we about to witness another strike of labour justice? To be continued…….
