A Call to all Pastors, bishops and church leaders

02 June 2014, 14:33

This is my plea- To all Pastors and leaders in the church.

On this planet, we have thousands of churches. Some are being held accountable for their finances. Most small churches have meetings where the finances are discussed. But of late we have many Mega Churches who does not really account for their finances. It is but a small group of people who knows what comes in and what goes out. I would like to change this. For as good stewards of the gifts, we ought to ask accountability of those we support.

I ask every single Mega church leader to open their books for their supporters to see what is happening with their tithes and offerings and seeds. I am not of the opinion and motive to open up a so-called can of worms, but I think this is important for the ministry of the gospel. If people know what happens to their giving, they will give more if it is used responsibly. The gospel of Christ is being plagued by rumors and whispers of pastors living like Kings and not living the Christ life of healing the nations. To be honest, I do not mind if a pastor leads by example and lives are changed and solid word is preached. My pastor may live like a king. But, within boundaries set by the church.

I have settled this in my heart. A church that is not transparent in it's workings, is deceiving the people and the church.

I write this piece, not to be a challenger, but a worker of truth. I write this piece because I believe that if we can do this right, many more souls will be saved because of the good work of the ministry. I write this piece because I think the time has come for our Mage Church leaders to be accountable for what is placed in their hands. I write this piece because we have people living a dire poverty, while the church a storing millions for a rainy day.

I also believe that many of our churches are building empires for the future generations of a few. I have been around some time and learned that governments are challenged to be accountable. I have learned that CEO’s businesses should be accountable. I have learned that in the family structure, mothers and father are asked to be accountable. Actually in every sphere of life people are begged to be accountable. What is happening in the church?. No accountability. Very little, if I am correct. Does this sound like the church of Christ? Does this mirror the church Jesus envisaged? NO, it does not.

Does this sound dodgy? YES, it does.

So, my question to all our leaders are, When are you going to open up your financial statements to those who support you, so we can really see  what and where our tithes and offerings is going? Do not misread my question. I am asking, when are you going to be accountable for what is placed in your hands. If we continue to be this closed society that keeps others non informed, we have an issue.

So this my call to all Pastors of our mega churches. Open you books for the sake of the ministry. Open your books so your sceptics can shut up. I do surely pray, they will be. Church members are talking about this hidden stuff behind your back. People in your church are asking these questions, when no one is around to hear. Your congregation is asking this, and you don’t know. They have been wondering about this for yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeears……….but does not have the courage to ask the question.

So I will ask the question. What are you doing with all God’s money? Show Us. I am Kevin Kevuvu Williams.
