Mister President, not so long ago you said: “The ANC will rule until Jesus comes!” Many thought that statement to be blasphemous, but I believe that statement was prophetic and will realize. At the same time I sincerely hope you do not fall into the same trap as so many “scoffers” (2Pet.3:3ff) who put many light-years between the ‘now’ and the coming of Jesus. I hope to God that you did not mean by this statement that the ANC will rule ‘forever’, because Mister President, I’ve got NEWS for you! This ‘forever’ won’t last very long, because THE COMING OF JESUS IS IMMINENT!
No, we will NOT see Him coming on the clouds for some time yet, but His second “Messenger” (see Mal.3) will be revealed any day now. This Person is different from the first messenger, John the Baptist, who announced the First Coming of Jesus. This Person will be His Divine Ambassador, and as you know, an ambassador fully represents a government in a foreign land. This Person will have complete authority to stand in the stead of the King of all kings, the Lord of all lords, and even Mister President, the President of all presidents!
Maybe you will respond by saying that these things have nothing to do with you, but NOT so, Mister President, it has EVERYTHING to do with you. You see, it doesn’t matter who is on the throne, or whether that person is put there by hook or by crook, democratically elected or by whatever means, the Bible says: “… the Most High is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes.” (Dan.4:25) There are many people who don’t like your person and there are many more that don’t like your way of executing the Presidential Office, but don’t be too worried about those. Be proud that the Most High liked you such a lot that HE CHOSE YOU!
Yes, He chose you, and He expects from you to produce the goods for HIM! In Romans chapter 13 the Bible underscores the fact that the government is God’s Institution. But verse 4 puts the cherry on top: It says the government is the “servant of God”. Plain and simple and straightforward! Listen Mister President, YOU ARE THE SERVANT OF GOD!!! Not the servant of the ANC or the elite or the blacks, or any foreign governments, or even your own family! You are the president for ALL the people in the Republic of South Africa in ALL their diversity, whether they like it or not. You are to serve God by serving His people living in the Republic of South Africa.
Mister President, God watches you and your government from His vantage point on high and He cannot be too impressed with what is happening on the ground. You’ve done a lot of things that you can be proud of, but too many things are lagging behind. And, Mister President, you cannot blame the old Apartheid regime ‘until Jesus Comes’, for you and your government’s shortcomings!
Anger and frustration are boiling over, because while for some, South Africa is paradise, others don’t even have the very basic of basic amenities like running water! For too many life is a constant struggle without electricity; too many have to put up with the very unhygienic bucket system! Too many have to live in iron and plastic shelters commonly called shanties with many families sharing toilet facilities! The list goes on and on.
Now Mister President, there’s a saying that ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’. How very true! And you know what? Your constituents would have accepted that gladly, if it wasn’t for the lavish lifestyles of those in power; the corruption; the excessive travelling allowances; the corruption; the salaries of those in power matching favorably with those of the much more affluent countries; the corruption, the corruption, the corruption! To those sadly lacking constituents it must surely feel like they are ruled by aliens!
And then Mister President, there is Nkandla! I want to tell you sir, you don’t NEED Nkandla! Jesus says in John 14:2 He prepared such a magnificent mansion for you that will make Nkandla look like a shanty in comparison. Maybe you are even more firmly in control of the ANC after all the bad flak you received around Nkandla and other negatives; however it was NOT the ANC delegates who returned you at Mangaung! God is a God of second chances and it’s God who wanted you to have another go at holding the reins of the country. God looked past the mistakes that mesmerized your friends and foes alike. He saw the other qualities that so many are too blind to see, like the strong will to rein in and unsaddle the ANCYL leadership!
God knows that with the right inspiration and a change of heart you will be the one who will succeed in decapitating corruption and all the other woes that puts distance between the government and the governed. If the prodigal son could do it, so can you! I’ve got this prophetic feeling that you will be the very last president of South Africa, before the Divine Ambassador takes over. You’ve got the choice: You can go down in history as the president who about-turned 180°, pleasing God and really serving the country or you can just hang on a little longer and have the reins of government wrested from your hands, like a lollypop is taken away from a toddler. And please don’t say that can never happen! Let me remind you again of what the Bible says about these matters: “… the Most High is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes.” (Dan.4:25)
