For ten days , I have had a bad taste in my mouth, since Madiba passed on. I have watched and read about some of the most despicable South African political figures talk about the legacy this great man left behind and that how we must follow his legacy as he was such a great leader.
The tragedy is that we have had to listen to Zuma presiding over the period of mourning and waxing lyrically about Madiba and his beliefs. In my opinion this is a travesty as Zuma is an exact opposite to the late Madiba. Since when did Madiba preside over one of the corrupt governments in the world, only to watch the rich (politically connected) get richer and the poor get poorer. Since when is having unprotected sex with a known HIV/Aids carrier , or sleeping with a friend's daughter (an extra marital affair) following the Madiba legacy.
A man that abuses state resources to destroy political opponents, has decimated the justice system to protect himself from prosecution on 700+ charges of corruption, has squandered more than R500m of taxpayers' money on building his private home and the road to it. A man that has done little else in his term other than to fight off justice , organised dodgy health parole to other corrupt people. Nearly every appointment he has made has been surrounded in controversy and surprisingly enough have been Zulus.
He is head of an organisation that allowed a known criminal to stand a few feet away from heads of other nations, who gets booed by party members on a world stage and then thinks that he deserves respect, just because he is president. The concept that respect is earned seems to escape him and his henchmen.
It is a shame that we were represented by this clown at such a sad but momentous occasion and I am now going to clean my teeth and use liberal amounts of mouth wash to try and get the taste out of my mouth.
