A dream killed by SASCOC

23 January 2014, 15:21
As I read the article about Sive Speelman's dream being crushed by SASCOC denying him to take part in this year's Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, I couldn't help but to feel a mixture of anger and sadness.
A young man's dream who has proved his worth over and over again and who has done everything needed to qualify for the games, is being killed by an incompetent and arrogant bunch of hypocrites, trying to run an organization called SASCOC.
Unlike Sive who proved is worth by qualifying for the games, SASCOC has once again proved their incompetence, arrogance and hypocrisy by crushing this young man's dreams for reasons unknown.
Here we have a truly talented young athlete, who has the ability to compete among the best in the world, a real example of transformation in South African sport and as usual he is unfairly punished and robbed of a life changing experience by a bunch of incompetent and selfish sport administrators.
This is exactly the reason why, after 20 years of democracy and incompetent administration we still are where we are today.
I am, and I hopefully speak on behalf of the bigger part of the nation, truly and utterly disgusted by SASCOC's behavior in this matter, but then again, did we really expect anything other than incompetence from SASCOC.
They really should be ashamed of their behavior, but, I think they are too incompetent to feel ashamed.
