A mockery par excellence.

11 June 2014, 19:45

How ridiculous (mockery or division) and ludicrous) foolish or unreasonable as to be amusing, absurd or ridiculous) in a country where a normal person, even applying for the lowest vacancy in the government is automatically disqualified to even be considered for the position, if he can’t get a security classification, or has a record, for any wrongdoing, to obtain or even be considered for the position.

But for the appointment of the Head of the National  Prosecuting Authority, who handles secret and highly confidential investigations and the subsequent decisions whether or not for the matter to be prosecuted, such a security clarification is not necessary prior to him being employed.

And then he has already been in the position/post for some time, received all the necessary and extravagant perks and remuneration that is synonymous with the position, has ruled or overruled on prosecutions that were being investigated, yet he himself has no security classification or clearance to hold down the job!

Again the idiom comes to mind and being so relevant in this democracy of ours: “what is good for the goose does not necessarily apply to the gander!” as long as your political affiliation, and whom you know higher up, can vouch for your dignity and integrity, to get the job, it is yours for the taking.

Every single day we witness these in discrepancies and then the Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority has the audacity to publicly declare on television that the appointment of such a person, in such a senior position, to have a security clarification is not a prerequisite!

If his own hand is dirty, how is he going to distinguish between good and bad, or is it once again, if you favour and support the ruling part, no matter what, you are considered to be unblemished, which is so evident even in our honourable State President with his over 700 cases of corruption!

I mean the parliamentary rules that excludes people with a criminal record to be members of parliament who have a criminal record, was changed, to accommodate, Mamma Winnie Madikizele Mandela, so why should it be any different to change the rules for someone as the Director of Public Prosecutions?

No soon are we rid of the corrupt Jackie Selebi, the once Police Commissioner, who was convicted for corruption and wrongdoings, sentenced to 15 years, of which he incidentally only served 5 months, before being released on medical parole, and having access to that ‘miracle cure’ that healed him of his terminal illness as he himself admits he is no more sick (maybe Shabir Shaik also got hold of it as he is now assaulting caddies on the golf course), and we have the debacle of the Director of Public Prosecutions without a security classification.

But let us lot deviate from the subject by this absolute absurdity and unorthodox (contrary to what is usual, traditional and or acceptable) rules that suddenly apply when the ruling party is caught with its pants down, on their cronyism, and deployment strategies, with ulterior motives behind each and every appointment in a senior capacity to later call on ‘unpaid rewards’ when required!
