A part of our lives.
Violence will always be part and parcel of our society and reaching out to all corners of that society, even into the very fabric and becomes a part of that fabric.
It will never cost the price of a new broom but rather to abuse the usage of that new broom.
As an example we need only look to the Western Cape to see the blindness and mindlessness to even understand the machinations’ of violence.
Violence has become an end unto itself because it is no longer the precursor of good and hence cannot promote the ideals of those who resort to violence.
Violence, the very weapon has turned upon itself in Sasolburg and De Doorns at the other end of the country.
All proponents of violence claim violence as a method of forcefully claiming what is believed to be their property in its myriad forms...so burn it, destroy it and plunder and loot it because it is ours.
The tragedy in the Western Cape is in a sense a comedy which is playing itself out in the flames of a pay increase. In fact that increase has been jeopardised by the very flames having destroyed that too and much of the infrastructure designed to generate the pay increase. Even junior now has to go without food and life’s necessities while Dad is looting the bottle store and much else in the region.
I have often wondered at the mentality of a looter and arsonist.
What goes through any rational mind when in the act of destroying, destruction, arson and looting takes the upper hand.
Is it the flowering of an ego in bloom or the unfathomable pit of despair? Is there any satisfaction when running a knife through another live entity?
