Al is really special, as he has a famous relative…
Here my friend tries to make my comments irrelevant by showing people the photos on my facebook page.
I was always seen as making a joke, pulling a prank on another, and the photo gives a perception of things happening that doesn’t happen for real. I don’t need to be drunk for this. In most photos’ one struggles to see depth and appears to be something that it isn’t. An example, bend you elbow or knee and take a picture of it, zooming in on the bend. If you do it correctly, it looks lik a hairy bum. Another one is where I hold my hand and place it strategically over a portion of person body, making it appear inappropriately, where in fact my hand was about 30cm away from that person. Smoke and mirrors, and atheist fell for it… What a bunch of plonkers
There was statements made by the atheists / plonkers made that Jesus share characteristic with these, and since most of these deities were worshiped before Jesus’ time, it would mean that Jesus was copied from these myths.
Let clear up the date issue…
First used in 1582
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gregorian_calendar#Months_of_the_year Note the origins of the names of the months.
“The Julian calendar was a reform of the Roman calendar introduced by Julius Caesar in 46 BC (708 AUC).”
It would be quite astonishing how a deity served hundreds of years before Jesus was born, could be calculated back using a calendar that only come into existence hunderds of years ( The Gregorian calendar) after Jesus.
Let’s address one of the favorites… Many a people, including atheists say these other deities was born on 25 December. That may be true, however, as discussed before the calendar using these moths and days was not even in place at the time these deities lived. The other important issue is the reference is that of the shepherds being present at the time of Jesus birth. If 25 December is the date, let us look here…
“Temperatures in Israel vary widely, especially during the winter. The more mountainous regions can be windy, cold, and sometimes snowy; Jerusalem usually receives at least one snowfall each year”. December is winter in the northern hemisphere, thus is would be highly unlikely that the shepherds would take out their sheep in the cold of the night.
Then the wise men, and as some tales of the deities in regards to shepherds/wise men.
Many questions have been asked were these wise men came from, to me it clearly meant they didn’t come from any atheistic orientated land, since these men actually used their knowledge…It is important to note, whilst reading the Bible that the amount of wise men is never mentioned, only that there were three gifts…Yet another lie told by one that understand the Bible “better”.
Matt 2 : 11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.”
The other important thing here is to notice that they refer to Jesus being a child, and not a baby anymore, since time has passed…
Luke 2 :16 refers to the shepherds seeing Jesus a baby, again proving the point that there was a time difference since the shepherd saw Jesus and when the wise men or Magi saw Jesus…
Herod did asked that all male babies up to a certain age had to be killed…
Again, how did the date of 25 December came about?
The pagan church leaders in Rome decided to celebrate Christ's birth during the winter solstice in an attempt to Christianize these popular pagan celebrations. For the most part their efforts failed to make the people conform, and the heathen festivities continued. Read here, and see if you can find the truth amongst the untruths… This was all done pre Constantine
The only thing I could find was this “In Zoroastrianism, Mithra is a member of the trinity of ahuras, protectors of asha/arta, "truth" or "[that which is] right".”
This is interesting to note that the Egyptian Deity Horus of Nekhen, The Romans(aquila), also used this symbol, The Nazi’s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Parteiadler_der_Nationalsozialistische_Deutsche_Arbeiterpartei_(1933%E2%80%931945).svg )and appears on the Coat of Arms of America.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fasces#Fasces_in_the_United_States)
There is a tale how “winged” animals played a role in deciding where Rome was to built.
What is interesting was that Jesus was never referred to as an eagle…
So, there is no evidence proving Mithra was born from a virgin on 25 December. There is no evidence that there was shepherds around. There is no evidence that he taught in the temple at 12, nor that he had disciples ( 12 of them)
(All quoted texts are from the source below)
“The origins of Mithraism as a Roman cult are not fully understood. It clearly derives from ancient Persia in some way, but scholars are divided on whether the Roman cult is a westernized Persian religion or an essentially western religion with Persian trimmings.”
“There are no known women followers of Mithraism” Christianity had many woman. They played important roles in the start of the religion and during the life of Jesus.
“In considering claims for Mithraism's influence on Christianity, it is important to remember that Mithraism was a very secretive, initiatory cult whose beliefs, practices and imagery were not known to the outside world. So it would not have been as easy for Christianity to borrow ideas from it as one might assume.”
After all, Mithra was a pagan cult, and Christian reject the pagan gods and ritual and was killed for that..
“In a Roman context, Mithras was a sun god (called sol invictus, "the invincible sun"), a "bull-slayer," "cattle-thief" and the savior of initiates of his cult.” But the word son and sun is only closely related to in english, a language that started hunderds of years after Jesus and Mithra…
There is no reference to being born in a cave, only that Mithra was depicted as slaying a bull in front of cave…
“Another intepretation of the bull-killing scene is that it is an astrological allegory, since elements in the scene correspond to a group of constellations. According to this view, astrology was central to Mithraism…” and this is where the little lie of the 12 zodiac signs come from, not that he had 12 disciples…simply no evidence of this
“It is probable that each Mithraic temple and community was presided over by one or more Fathers. But the initiates of Mithraism, even in the highest ranks, were not professional priests. Their monument attest that they remained active members of the secular world.”
Yet it is amazing were the rumours come from. This from people that say shared characteristics, attributes alludes to the facts of a common ancestor, yet react emotional when their stance is compared to a religion based on shared characteristics or behaviour.
The connection between the Roman and Persian Mit(h)ra(s) is debated. There is no evidence that Mithra actually died or rose or that his death is remember yearly.
All these are made up myths by atheists trying to connect Mithra to Jesus. Not one peer reviewed article from a scholar has tried to place an article connecting them, because it would only make him/her look like a total not well researched person…
It is amazing that atheists want to appear not well researched…
“Indian as well as Western scholars have now accepted the period between 3200 and 3100 BC as the period in which Lord Krishna lived on earth. Krishna took birth at midnight on the ashtami or the 8th day of the Krishnapaksha or dark fortnight in the Hindu month of Shravan (August-September).” There goes the December 25 myth created by atheists.
“Legends have it that on the very sixth day of his birth, Krishna killed lady demon Putna by sucking on her breasts. In his childhood, he also killed many other mighty demons, such as Trunavarta, Keshi, Aristhasur, Bakasur, Pralambasur et al. During the same period he also killed Kali Nag (cobra de capello) and made the holy water of river Yamuna poison free” No reference to a virgin birth, or shepherds, being baptized in a river, only that he made the water poison free.
“Krishna made cowherdesses happy by the bliss of his cosmic dances and the soulful music of his flute.” So there was no shepherds at his birth, but made cow herders’ happy by playing on his flute.
“As a child he was reputed to be very mischievous, stealing curd and butter and playing pranks with his girl friends or gopis” Amazingly we don’t know much about Jesus childhood except this in Luke 2 : 25 to 40. He was seen as praiseworth by Simeon and Anna
“Krishna then returned to Mathura, his birthplace, and killed his wicked maternal uncle King Kamsa along with all his cruel associates and liberated his parents from jail. He also reinstated Ugrasen as the King of Mathura. He completed his education and mastered the 64 sciences and arts in 64 days at Avantipura under his preceptor Sandipani. As gurudaksina or tuition fees, he restored Sandipani's dead son to him. He stayed in Mathura till he was 28.”
So, he did restored a dead son, but how long dead the son was is unknown, but so did Elijah. Krishna was a murderous person and was well educated (64 sciences)
“In Dwarka, he married Rukmini, then Jambavati, and Satyabhama. He also saved his kingdom from Nakasura, the demon king of Pragjyotisapura, had abducted 16,000 princesses. Krishna freed them and married them since they had nowhere else to go.”
Jesus never had wives
“After the great war, Krishna returned to Dwarka. In his final days on earth, he taught spiritual wisdom to Uddhava, his friend and disciple, and ascended to his abode after casting off his body, which was shot at by a hunter named Jara. He is believed to have lived for 125 years. Whether he was a human being or a God-incarnate, there is no gainsaying the fact that he has been ruling the hearts of millions for over three millennia. In the words of Swami Harshananda, "If a person can affect such a profound impact on the Hindu race affecting its psyche and ethos and all aspects of its life for centuries, he is no less than God."
Again no reference to being a carpenter, being crucified and being resurrected. Note the last sentence…
The only thing that the liars made that statement has to do, is to demonstrate 100% that all the statements made about the alternative character is in fact true. Then only we can discuss the connection to Jesus.
So my dear atheists and anti-theists, first bring your evidence showing your side is 100% correct before we start comparing it to Jesus.
I have pasted this link before, and before we all lose sight of the real issue here, this list compiled was based on real people. Not made up entities.
