Well, to be exact. ADSL in South Africa has really improved. Gone from the overpriced unusable type to the more, overpriced semi-usable.
I can understand that the internet infrastructure in South Africa is not first world type. With the new VDSL in place, we are getting there.
The prices are still ridiculous. I am a eSports commentator and YouTuber. If you do not know what that is then i suggest you quickly Google. There are some amazing price cuts in ADSL and increase of line speed for free. However from my point of the argument. My road supports "4mb" however i can barley connect at a stable 2mb. How am i meant to pay R1600* ( the average cost for a decent 20mb VDSL) just so i can actually fulfill my dreams.
Here is my statement. To any international companies out there, please think about changing the way South African internet is provided. Big business opportunity since Telkom. The government owner of the current internet infrastructure, is widely hated by every single South African I have encountered. Telkom does have some good sides to them, just very few and some of the negatives are enough to make people like me. Get up, and leave the country because we are tired of waiting for something "good". My last resort has come to looking for a sponsor to help me get going till the day i can afford a decent internet package. Just for starters, its at the point where it is a choice between a Car or Internet. Those two should never really be in the same category of price.
Excuse me for the horrid language, i am a normal person who just wants to be heard.
