ADT Security is supposed to be one of the leaders in private security, especially in the Gauteng area. You would thus expect excellent service, with the slight hick-up along the way as is usual in South Africa, because let’s face it service is not this countries strong suit.
This is however not the case with ADT Security; I installed an alarm system in the region of R 45,000 in March 2012. First my house was damage, but I was assured by ADT Security management that any expense I occur due to repairs would be credited to my account and that I can proceed with resolving the issue at hand and send them the bill. I then proceeded and followed all instruction as I was informed that there is no need for quotations.
This then turned into a nightmare, and took me several months to resolve as ADT Security now said, now sir you need to get us three quotations before we agree to credit the amount. That’s said the matter was resolved after I had to trough the usual South African tantrum to get some service. Unfortunately I had a new problem by that time, the alarm system fails. I then booked my first of six visits by a technician.
The first one came to my premises and resolved nothing as he did not have the correct parts. Two weeks later I had to re-book a technician to have the matter resolved, the same technician then came back with the parts, made his repairs and left. Two months later I have the same issue, but now as according to ADT they only offer a six month guarantee (I’m not even sure if that’s legal) I now have to pay for the call out. I then explained to the call centre that the alarm has never worked correctly before the so called warranty lapsed and so I will not accept responsibility.
After speaking to some manager, ADT Security agrees to foot the bill. Four technicians later and I still have the same problem, although ADT Security now refuses to come and repair the system before I pay for all the callouts. I’m still not footing the bill, the alarm has never worked correctly, it’s less than a year old and if I had prompt service I would have had all of this resolved before the excuse for a warranty lapsed, never mind the five or so technicians that just never pitched. So I’ve made my third post on Hello Peter, not that the previous two received a response, but at least a can warn others and I have started a group in Facebook.
That said, I’ve worked with a few companies over the years, some are near perfect, some are good, some average and some are poor, but ADT Security has set a new low in standards For all of those that want to complain please Like my page http://www.facebook.com/groups/113849812129260/ and make your voice heard.
