The ANC is one of few political party that elects a president without knowing what to expect from the man; like a Pop Idols competition. Before I go on I must congratulate this year's winner Khaya Mthethwa.
Just like the pop stars a winner will emerge from the ANC Mangaung elective pop idols competition, and just like the pop idols the hype will after fizzle out, some will come into support a certain candidate because of they singing dancing talent (a certain Zuma fits this criteria well), some will vote out of anger for past loss and others will vote for the black person (no reason except colour).
But the main factor for me is, does the winner of idols ever gets to sell CDs after the competition? Or does the winner of Mangaung idols ever delivers for the people? The evidence is on the former winner of idols (Heinz Wincker,Anke Pietrangeli,Karin Korje etc ) not even one of them could sell a cassete for free, and the former winner of the Polokwane idols proves to be a disaster too many mistakes to fill in this page.
The ANC elective conference will have 4500 people holding the country hostage, the hostage drama might leave us with a new president doing the state of the nation speech and mr Zuma facing 700 counts of corruption charges, perhaps it might leave us with a new vice president and a new cabinet but same old corruption and state failure to adress porvety, inequality and lawlessness
i think it was Peter Framton who sung 'meet the new boss same as the old one"
