The DA VS ANC fight has left the people of Western Cape province suffering from enjoying the AFCON 2013 tournament which not even one match is hosted in the province. It is no surprise that the ANC is sending a clear message to the country and its voters that voting for another party could lessen your province’s reputation and will be abandoned.
It is totally unfair to the people of WC and its infrastructures, because if the province was also part of hosting the AFCON to one of its stadium (Green Point) then it would have attracted more tourist and investors to the province thus creating job opportunities for the youth and also contributing to the development of the country and improvement in the economy. WC is ungovernable and is led by the Democratic Alliance which took over from the ANC after the 2009 IEC elections. The Cape Town Stadium (Green Point) in Cape Town, South Africa is a newly built stadium that was used for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and it holds 64 100 capacity which makes it the second biggest stadium in South Africa will not host Africa’s biggest tournament due to political reasons between arch rivals ANC and DA.
I thought “working together we can do more” as ‘South Africans’ but there is no honor in ousting the WC from the AFCON tournament due to political reasons, they are not working together with the DA to make lives better for all South Africans including the WC people. ANC sank too low for this act and their pride will not enable development for the nations neither will the DA’s pride.
This is wrong; this tournament is not meant for all South Africans but for the ANC and its own people.
Again President Jacob Zuma’s opening speech never mentioned the issue of racism and xenophobia which our continent is facing, but all that was said is “you’re all welcome to our country” and nothing more was said, this is very disappointing.
