It has been long since the debate about respecting of elders came into being, fortunately it came along with the whole issue of the behavior of the youth league and the so called insults to seniors in the ANC , one must indeed that analyze the question of respect from the African roots and the way in which people were brought up in a very complicated societies with which we leave live in. we grow up in environments within we meet all sorts of people , to a particular extent we end up meeting individuals that might be detrimental to our growth and downfalls .the issue of respect not only to the elders it’s a very important issue that needs to be reflected , they are say in Pedi Mahlaku a Matala a e thekga ka a mafsa , literally meaning elders rely on young people ,because of their energy and their ability to learn quick and fast . The question we need to ask ourselves from here is whether the ANCYL is disrespectful to elders in the movement. While others argue all this things that are happening now , whatever the youth league say is something that was once said during the tenure of the former President Thabo Mbeki and many people said nothing including President Jacob Zuma , I think it’s naïve and nonsensical to give a title to lack of discipline and anarchy , because it happened some time ago , in order to understand this one knows that two wrongs never made a right , they remain being a wrong and everyone who does not want himself to be in the right will have to get the marching orders .the debate of lack of discipline in the ANCYL is a long standing issue , the unfortunate part of it is that the leaders of the Youth League themselves believe in the self taught lies of being called king makers and that in itself and that have made them to think that they will the oldest liberation movement into ransom.
The current behavior in the preparatory school of future meaning the ANCYL , if its left to happen in this manner , it will mean that for the next fifteen years to come, we must know that ill discipline will then be the order of the day, one must however applaud the leadership of the ANC for saying that enough is enough , there is in no way that in any house a parent can allow the behavior that seems to have ravaged the African National Congress. They made sure that they give them a riot act in the organization for the first time in 100 years wherein, leaders of the ANCYL behaves in this manner,Malema and friends must now swallow the medicine which they made people like , Rubben Mahlaloga, Lehlogonolo Masoga and many other former leaders of the Youth league who could not bear to sit with this ill disciplined anarchachic characters that we see in this political discourse
The ANC needs to redeem itself so that anyone who will attempt to have a malema behavior will know that the movement is not a kinder garden , its serious movement which wants to address critical issues that affects our people, no one must disturb the ANC in its per suit to better the lives of our people
