Congrats to Finding Sugar Man last night. The Muslim who turned into a cat, has clearly showed he has got nine lives, and resurrected to stardom and fame. I wonder how many people grew up with his lyrics and uniqueness in the day gladly to find he is still alive.
This brings me to the Oscars (this one is a real golden boy) and the movies. Jennifer Lawrence is here to stay and Daniel Day-Lewis is quite interesting.
America is so aptly represented by the movies it produces and it always begs the question if that society is ‘Life imitating Art – or Art Imitating Life’. We always seem to be subtly introduced into the next era or generation by the movies that are made and produced in the USA and ‘lo and behold’, what was taboo last time is now the modus operandi of the day.
The Turner classic movies from a century ago depicted gentile families singing and dancing their way to happiness and delight, living happily ever after. When society followed this message, they soon realised what a load of bollocks this is. We started seeing Jewish people, black presidents, lesbians and gays and hit women.
These were the warm up’s for what was to come, and you know u see a movie with a female president of the United States, then it is on the cards.
Meryl Streep nearly got there in the Manchurian candidate but was a bit hectic. Probably Charlize Theron, because she also originates from Africa.
