Ali Baba and the forty thieves (Business and the ANC)

22 January 2013, 15:10

Ali Baba who had a brother called Cassim was just another poor man wandering the land looking for food and wood, upon his many travels he came across men in there very expensive horses and decided to climb the tree to hide himself from this suspicious looking men

Just a few rocks away about forty of the men climbed off they expensive horses and stood in front of a cave and spoke the words ‘open sesame ‘and the door to the cave opened up,Ali Baba stood hidden in the tree until the men left the cave and off on they expensive horses ,he then did what the forty men did stood in front of the cave spoke the words ‘open sesame ‘ then he went and found gold reserves and other expensive items ,Ali Baba had discovered that this gold reserves and other expensive items were stolen items and that the forty men were in fact thieves and he himself stole from the forty thieves

I need not to bore you to death with this lengthy story ,mine is just to highlight that this story of Ali Baba and the forty thieves resembles that of the relationship between business ,politicians ,the state and the ANC

When the president of South Africa stands up and assures that anybody associated with the ANC stands to benefit then it is ‘open sesame’ Ali Baba steals from the forty thieves

When a minister buys an art piece for 3.5 million then the same minister calls the ceo of anglo platinum ‘arrogant ‘ then ‘open sesame’ Ali Baba steals from the forty thieves

When a man who buys a buffalo for 18 million dollars says he is pro poor people and is still in touch with the poor people of this country then ‘open sesame ‘Ali Baba steals from the forty thieves

When a house of 250 million rands is built for a president and half the people in his country live in poverty then’open sesame’ Ali Baba steals from the forty thieves

When the president’son serves in more than 9 boards of the same people the Gupta family and his wife is the communication officer of the same family then ‘Ali Baba steals from the forty thieves

Majority poverty

Being a majority has its advantages and disadvantages, based on various aspects of demographics the citizenry. As far as services are concerned it will always be the minority who will benefit most from government as their numbers can be serviced with the least of money, amenities in their areas will last longer be kept in working order better because of the low demand for it, while on the other hand in the areas of majority it is the excessive usage of services which causes numerous breakdowns and eventually no services. Read more...
