In this phase – she had a mastectomy of sorts, had genital alterations, took male hormones and bought a razor for her face. Now this is where it becomes interesting – because is she now a man, or getting there? So if I bump into her/him how do I greet? He suffered extreme mood swings, his voice became deeper and experienced violent behaviour during this transition, probably while he was standing in the queue to get a new identity book.
Ok – so let’s say he is all man now. He can’t produce children and surely somewhere there is a memory of being someone’s bridesmaid before attending school. Without being disrespectful, as there was strong enough motivation to switch gender, I can’t say I understand. Be androgynous.
It is actually a brave step to experience another reality permanently. He could have become a drug addict. Now he is attracted to men. Perhaps as an outsider looking in, it is a rebellion of sorts – from a cellular level, metaphysically, emotionally and mentally. Sure, I am not qualified to analyse however I feel ill equipped to never make reference to the past and acknowledge his feminine side.
On the other hand, if I think of the movie the Lying Game and the television series Hit & Miss, it doesn’t matter what I think – because he will find love and happiness. Why not.
