And so the arguing continues

03 March 2013, 08:53

Let's stick to Christianity, as there has been so many articles on atheism vs "religion", and in the end they all end up 'attacking' Christianity.

According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, www.adherents.com, the top ten organized religions of the world are (I am sure by now these numbers have fluctuated as numbers generally do):Christianity 2.1 billion 33.0%Islam 1.5 billion 21%Hinduism 900 million 14%Buddhism 376 million 6%Sikhism 23 million 0.36%Judaism 14 million 0.22%Bahaism 7 million 0.1%Confucianism 6.3 million 0.1%Jainism 4.2 million 0.1%Shintoism 4 million 0.0%Note: This list includes only organized religions and excludes more loosely defined groups such as Chinese or African traditional religions.

The Oxford Dictionary states and explains the following:1. Science is the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment.2. Religion is the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.3. Belief is an acceptance that something exists or is true, especially one without proof.4. Evidence is the available body of facts or information indicating whether a belief or proposition is true or valid.

Is there any verifiable evidence for the existence of a God or gods yet?I was not there when the sandal wearing dessert dwellers wrote words onto paper (scrolls) so I cannot say, so I have to use the Bible to form the basis for my religion and belief in God.Were you there?

On the flip side, is there any verifiable evidence for the non-existence of a God or gods yet?I cannot say either, as I was not there when all the experiments and theorizing were done, and I am still not there with the ongoing experiments. Were you there? Or are you there now?

Now you can say it is petty of me to throw in the "Were you there?" comment, but that has been exactly what I have read so many times from atheist replies when it comes to happenings 2000 odd years ago.

So do I have to believe what I read, whether I choose to read the Bible or I choose to read scientific books or journals or white papers? That is just it, it is my choice.I choose what I read and I choose what I believe.

Yes there will be people from the religious side as well as the atheist side whom would like to push their views and beliefs, or lack of, down your throat, so what do you do?Generalize? You can listen, agree or disagree, and ask questions or not.You can bring a horse to water but cannot force him to drink, but I guess you get some really serious people out there, maybe I am generalizing...

At least the arguments and different articles and comments on this site do make for interesting reading.

One thing is true, whether it is science or religion, with or without the Bible or any other holy book or scientific book: What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun (and yes it comes from the Bible).

Religious wars are there today as we speak, have been there, and will be there again.War over greed, liberation, power to name a few are there today still, have been and will be there again.

When atheists attack the way Christians are raised, they are attacking more than just Christianity, they are attacking most of the religions in the world, as a lot of the principles of all the various religions or cross-linked into each other and are practiced in similar fashion.

Are humans so vulnerable, or full of themselves, that they will go to all ends and means to try and disprove the non-existance of God?

Are you asking for a little bit (or a lot) of proof of the existence of God, or are you asking Christians to support their claim that God does exist?Absolute irrefutable physical proof I would reckon is for God to appear to the world, that might happen, that might not, depending on your belief. If you asking to support the claim that God exist, look around you, yes, you can see, wow, so what? How many colors can the human eye distinguish? How many stimulus is sent to the brain via they eye every second? And from here you can go to the brain ...So we had evolution you will say, can evolution fully explain the start of living organisms from nonliving matter?I am not trying to prove or disprove science, as I was not there.Take our planet, perfect size, perfect distance from the sun, the moon is the perfect distance from earth...For you something as small as this, it is not sway enough for what and how you believe, but it will others. In the end, it is called faith, you either have it or you don't, and that is your choice. One day hopefully you will have the physical irrefutable proof that you want, hopefully not too late.Have a good day all :)
