Angry ancestors

02 February 2014, 20:30

President Zuma recently stated the following about ANC members who leave the party: “…those who do leave, they will attract the wrath of the ancestors, who will also bring that person bad luck."

Who are the ancestors of ANC members?

Fact is, like all humans, they are monkeys. The timeline progression is as follows: Euarchontoglires, Euarchonta, Primatomorpha, Primates, Haplorrhini, Smiiformes, Catarrhini, Hominoidea, Hominidae, Hominiae, Hominini, Hominina, Homo, Homo Sapiens, Homo Sapiens Sapiens – Modern mankind.

The well-known fairy tale that begins with a rib-woman conned by a talking snake and ending with a seven headed dragon, interspersed with thousands of pages about an invisible man in the sky sanctioning and committing proliferate heinous atrocities that should result in a severely age restricted book, (certainly not a moral guide for children) is not the origin of mankind today.

Fossil records clearly demonstrate our origins, the simplistic conclusion is that race groups today who more closely resemble and behave like our monkey ancestors, interbred with “monkeys” (see above timeline) for longer than those who did not. Like it or not, this is a scientific and genetic fact.

Personally, I don’t give a fig if Zuma’s monkey ancestors are angry, what I do care about is that he believes a dead monkey can get angry. I also [don't] care a lot about the fact that he believes in an invisible man in the sky as per the bible fairy tale.

There are medications for these psychoses, there are institutions for people with such severe delusions. Our Government should not be one!

I digress.

Coming back to Zuma’s monkey ancestors, our genetic heritage… it is incumbent upon us to understand why his Government consists of family members, fellow tribesman/women, lackeys and cronies.

Again, to put it very succinctly, genes that get passed on are the ones whose evolutionary consequences serve their own implicit interests [to continue being replicated], not necessarily those of the organism. Richard Dawkins called it the “selfish gene”, and dear reader, it is a fact. Not a belief. Observing monkeys in a troupe is all one needs to understand it.

Edward Abbey observed that since few men are wise enough to rule themselves, even fewer are wise enough to rule others. I have long held to this philosophy.

Witnessing the political circus that governs the world’s countries has long amused me.

Particularly South Africa’s, whose charades make for the best of comedy central.

Sadly, politicians such as Hitler, Napoleon, Stalin, Mao and their ilk have the nasty habit of creeping up on a country, and devastating it.

South Africans may now be deep in the trough of such calamity, ruled by people who believe in angry monkey ancestors.

Therefore, with a big sigh and much long-suffering, for the first time in my life, I am behooved to register and vote for the lesser of the monkeys, the lesser evil.
