I am becoming possessed with this idea that the entire human race is superior to all the "other" animals.
I've been bothered by this superiority complex we have since I started noticing my own nature. My nature being that of a "free-thinker" & I say it is my nature & not my behaviour, because I have found myself to be fixed in my ways & that's all I mean, I am not comparing myself to a lion that kills an impala by any means, I'm quite aware of myself.
I'd like to propose that perhaps, you're only correct to call yourself a human being when you are aware of your nature. I was reading an article about Manchester United's English Premier League 4-0 home victory over Norwich City, this Saturday, March 2, in which Shinji Kagawa became the first Asian to score a hat-trick in the EPL & I couldn't help, but think whether or not he realises & understands why this is an accolade for him or if he is just happy for the title.
I am not trying to imply that footballer's are of a lesser intelligence albeit that would be a justifiable implication, I am merely questioning our "awakedness" if you will. Do we all know what we're doing ? Do we all understand why we're doing things ? I doubt it very much that the highest achiever in a primary school even understands what he's doing, but sees his results as a way of getting that Playstation his mother promised & scoring a bit of popularity.
I feel like so many people are asleep to themselves. Performing amazingly like a well bred racehorse without thought nor question. Am I asking too much of the superior race when I ask that we be aware of ourselves ? I'm talking about the little things we do, like writing articles on MyNews24 or posting a picture of food on instagram. I think I am right to say that many human beings are just animals, merely existing due to existing.
& I say, if you go about your life without realising what you're doing, you are no greater than the goldfish that circles a bowl until the day it dies.
