It seems that whilst the actual system and its practices of Apartheid were abolished many years ago, we are fully aware that it is still very much alive in our ‘Rainbow Nation’ to this day.
Yes, it has taken on a new cover in the form of now encompassing Black on Black (faction/tribal hate), White on White (Afrikaaners versus Liberals) and of course we cannot forget the White on Black or Black on White. With many people, the racism remains in the dark recesses of the mind and only comes to the fore when we witness yet another atrocity. This is actually the most dangerous form of racism as once unleashed, it can stir up such hatred that we step backwards into the 1980’s.
The bitterness of the past carries heavily on the shoulders of many who were affected. The trouble seems to be where people who were not even born in that era have taken it upon themselves to join the ‘hate squad’.
How do we as South Africans think we are going to fix the problems that we are facing as a country? The continual racism is enough to turn ones stomach. I refuse to believe that people cannot stand together to demand that our current government get their ‘shit into gear’. Do people not see that if we continue as a ‘divided’ nation – we will never have the power to make demands of the government? Remember, they were voted ‘by the people – for the people’ and need to be reminded of this - frequently.
Whether one voted for the ANC or not, it doesn’t actually matter – they are in power and they need to be held accountable by the Public.
So stand together South Africa – demand that justice is carried out in regards to ALL case of Police Brutality (and not just the ones that have gone International), justice for Anene and the countless others out there that do not have a voice. Let’s scream and shout about the fact that so many of our Ministers are incompetent and should be forced to resign and not reallocated to another Portfolio. Lets stamp our feet in order that our Hospitals and schools start to receive their supplies. Let us not sit by and allow yet another strike to turn violent. We must not be apathetic and allow this cycle of complete lack of action by Government to continue.
Once we have everything in place again – you can continue your endless bickering...but until then – get it together people!
