The ruling party in South Africa automatically and arrogantly presume every black citizen’s vote is there’s for the taking. Man’s pigmentation shouldn’t govern nor compass the pathway of where one’s loyalty should lie.
The so-called rationality of why a majority of Africans vote ANC, irrespective of the party’s empty promises and lack of service delivery; is merely due to the fear of our history repeating itself. Even though apartheid lies six feet, some religiously believe an opposition party will reincarnate this beast.
There’s a new beast running ramped In South Africa, a beast which at first glance seems domesticated but with closer observation, a leash would be advisable. Man’s past best friend has become man’s worst enemy, the current ANC are nothing more than a pack of wild dogs.
Our country’s judicial system has no specific laws pertaining to criminal charges that animals can legally face for criminality – perhaps this is why any politician found guilty of a crime, corruption or fraud is immune from prosecution.
Just recently these demented hounds urinated on our democracy and the rights of journalists, by marking territory for the Protection of State Information Bill. Corruption within the ruling party is clearly evident but we opt to turn a blind eye; to be guided by dogs with no sense of moral direction.
The Bill is a political façade used to candy coat bitter and distasteful government documentations and acts of criminality perpetrated by politicians. With the bill passed, media organisation will not receive immunity from prosecution, through claims that it acted in public interest if it violates or publishes classified information to substantiate a report.
The ANC has never cared about public opinion or public interest, take for example the toll gate issue, decisions were taken without our consultation. Through all the broken, empty promises and lack of service delivery in ANC governed municipalities, It puzzles me how the ruling party still has a large support base.
Could it be through sheer loyalty or could it be because citizens are not accustomed to any other party. A classic example of an abusive relationship; where the battered victim remains with the partner due to Fear, Dependency, Social and Cultural Norms, and “Family Values”. Like father like son; the ANC is viler than apartheid itself, if you think racism is the greatest threat to our country’s well being, than you have misdiagnosed the disease our politicians have brought upon humanity.
We are confined to a political death bed, where we dream of a new life and change – don’t close your eyes to reality, wake up and face the truth. The truth that the current ANC will always be self serving bureaucrats, if we nourish the ANC - the son of apartheid, with spoonfuls of votes, we could see this child growing up to follow in its father’s footsteps.
