Are Christians hypocrites?

12 June 2014, 13:15
On one of our discussions recently Walter made a Comment that insinuated that Atheitis was gay, almost as if this insult should hurt. In Walters mind it seems that gay people are stupid, not entitled to an opinion and definitely should not be seen in public.
Walters opinion is based on  a few texts written by men more than 2000 years ago.
Leviticus 18:22"Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin."
Leviticus 20:13"If a man practices homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman, both men have committed a detestable act. They must both be put to death, for they are guilty of a capital offense."
There are a few other texts that can arguably be about homosexuality but few are as explicit as the ones referenced above.
Walter probably believes that Gay people must be really stupid to not understand that God doesn't like fudge packing, stirring the chocolate pot and I tell you what why don't you think of a few more of these descriptive phrases for this the most heinous of sins.
Leviticus is the book of laws that the Abrahamic faiths should follow. Before any of you tell me you are under grace and the Old Testament is not applicable to Christians, Let's just see what Jesus had to say about the law. Paul contradicted Jesus but I think we can agree the religion is supposed to be based on the teachings of Christ, not Paul else it would have been called Paulianity.
"For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished." Matthew 5:18 These are the words of Christ and we can see he says not one change is to be made to the law until heaven and earth disappear. I don't think that his words can be misconstrued as to be when he arises after the 3 day sabbatical known as the Easter Miracle. He said at the end of it all.
Walter how many Christians do you know that have workers? Do they pay them every day?  Let's see what Leviticus has to say about that. Leviticus 19:13 "Do not defraud or rob your neighbor. Do not hold back the wages of a hired worker overnight."
What does Leviticus say about that? How about wearing clothes woven from multiple fabrics? growing a vegetable garden with different plants in the same field? Leviticus 19:19 "'Keep my decrees. "'Do not mate different kinds of animals. "'Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed. "'Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material."
The Bible also gives you only one reason for Divorce, Adultery and then nobody may marry the tart either. You do know that if you marry a divorced person you are committing Adultery, don't you?
Anyway let's get back to those nasty Homosexual Men, (Women seem to be immune from these laws about getting laid by same sex partners, anyone noticed that?) There's that verse that if it were not in your Good Book would be immediately classified as hate speech, Come on what's this nonsense of wanting to kill someone because he loves Steve instead of Eve?
Leviticus 20:13"If a man practices homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman, both men have committed a detestable act. They must both be put to death, for they are guilty of a capital offense."
Hate speech is defined as speach that is an incitement to harm another or a specific group, Leviticus 20:13 fit's the criteria, no doubt about that at all. Walter your religion scares me but make me very grateful I love a woman because you may just have want to murder me if I loved a bloke, because bloke that love blokes are just detestable aren't they Walter?
“With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion" Steven Weinberg
