This dawned on my while sitting at work and seeing this tactic work first hand!
Are we as a country playing into the ANC's hands? Our biggest focus for the last few months or years has been the corrupt lifestyle of JZ. This has started many heated arguments and has clearly divided the ANC and the country.
But, what happens when the ANC elect another leader for next year? Has all of the hype around Zuma been for a reason? If the ANC do get rid of Zuma will the rest of the supporters who are sitting on the fence now suddenly come rushing back to support this corrupt political party?
This is the problem when we as the public don't get a chance to vote for the person to lead our country. It is not just Zuma who is corrupt (well he is but he is not the only corrupt person in the ANC), its 80% of the ANC leaders who are corrupt as they allow all of this to happen while sitting back and getting rich, Kgalema Motlanthe does not fall out of this corrupt bracket as he stood by while all of this was happening and he supports Malema.
So, if the change does happen and a new leader emerges for the ANC will this change anything? My answer is no, because it is not just one man that is corrupt, it take a number of people to pull off the vast amount of corruption currently happening in this country.
But, if the country gets what it wants and Zuma is not re-elected then suddenly a new wave of support for the ANC will be seen and all the past problems will be forgotten and the ANC will see a jump in votes again. This is what happens when there is so much hype around one person and not the party as a whole!!
This is the problem with our voting system, it is not actually the people that vote in our leader!
Zuma being asked to step down could be one of the biggest blows for the DA or any opposition party for that matter because suddenly the people who didn't want to vote ANC because of Zuma will now vote for ANC again (even though Zuma is just a puppet for the actual corrupt ANC members)
All I can end with is that I hope I am wrong because the success of South Africa hangs in the balance and currently the ANC are making it almost impossible for South Africa to succeed!!
