Armed response for the Almighty

17 April 2014, 09:02
I have just returned from spending a couple of days in a small town in the Eastern Free State – a magnificent part of the World.  One thing that strikes me whenever I take a stroll around town and the residential areas is the almost complete absence of electric fences, razor wire, alarms  and armed response signs on most houses.  Crime in obviously very low and only business premises and houses of worship seem to require extra levels of protection.
So here is a house of God with a big sign:
Confessional Assembly of Christian Apostolic Evangelical Orthodox Congregation Mission of Christ in South Africa”.
Below this are additional affirmations such as “honouring God”, “spiritual gifts”, “revelation and grace”, “healing in Jesus” and “counselling and prophesy”.  Next to it is another sign, “These premises are protected by Wagter Rottweiler Tarantula Radio Alarm and Armed Response”.
Then there are some churches with the tall phallic steeples that have lightening rods protruding on the top?
This creates a great deal of confusion for me.  When I was a little kiddie I was taught that the big three “O”s - God is Omnipotent, Omnipresent, and Omniscient which means, if I remember correctly, that  God is all powerful, is everywhere and knows everything.  So why does God need an alarm system to tell him the forces of Satan are breaking in and stealing his stuff?  Why does the Lord need a semi-trained gorilla with a gun to rush to His house to deal with the problem?
Geez, even atheists don't need lightening protection unless they have thatch?
Am I missing something?
