I've been observing the debate between atheists, agnostics and Christians on this website and have left a comment here and there.
I would like to ask the atheists and agnostics who are involved in this debate a couple of questions.
I've been observing this debate for some time now and have couple of questions I'd like to pose to the atheist and agnostic communities here on News24.
Why do atheists and agnostics try so hard to make Christians doubt, and even give up, their faith? Why don't turn their attention to Buddhists, Sikhs, Jains, Hindus, Ba'hais, Muslims, Jews, Satanists, Wiccans, Kabbalists, Neopagans, New Age-ists(?), and other religions who also cling to their beliefs? Why only pick on Christians?
Also don't Christians, from the post-modern point of view, have a right to believe what they believe? Christians live in an absolutist world, while atheists and agnostics generally tend to be relative in their beliefs. Christianity isn't breaking any moral or ethical law, is it? So, why only gun the Christians? Is it because Christians entertain the arguments of atheists and agnostics? Is it because of the bloody history between Christians and those who don't conform to their system of beliefs? Is it because many Christians are self-righteous and hypocritical? Can't these same questions be applied to the rivalries between "primitive" tribes, political parties, contending religions, denominations/factions within a certain religion, or other sections of society?
I'm only wondering.
