Bafana Bafana striking hunger

29 January 2013, 14:29
South Africa's national team has no strikers. It surprises me to see that our AFCON's top goal scorer is a defender yet there are four players elected to be our strikers during the tournament.
One would ague that we have Paker, Mpela, Rankie and Majoro. We cannot say we have quality strikers referring to one who scores only when playing for his team, and not scoring so many goals but a goal in every three match.

South Africa still has a work to do in producing quality strikers. Sometimes I think the job is at the ground level where we start our soccer carrier, People at the development level needs to work hark in producing strikers. According to my point of view, good quality strikers are in rural areas where development does not reach much. I say this because I think we still have that mentality that people from rural villages cannot play soccer like people in urban area which used to happen during Doctor Khumalo's era.

Let us start going out there and start grooming young stars who have talent in soccer in order to produce quality strikers.
