The Congress of the People Youth Movement is baffled by the cruel and merciless rape of a 5 year old.
The rape of the 5 year old girl in Mmamatsha village in Ga-Molepo Limpopo baffles the mind as it presents a cruel, merciless and appalling act by a coward man. One wonders what kind of a low level human being could perform such an act on an innocent child and reaping away her childhood and leaving the horrendous memories.
The Country’s rape statistics paints a very painful and sad picture of the rape crime in this country with about 28000 children under the age of 18 being sexually assaulted between 2010 and 2011 (Data supplied by the Institute for Security Studies). Most of these children were under the Age of 10.
The stats speaks of a nation in crisis and at war with itself, a country where children faces a bleak future and risk the possibility of being raped every time they step outside their comfortable home to play or go to school. More alarming is the fact that few of these cases are reported and prosecuted accordingly.
South Africa cannot continue in this self destructive path, we cannot continue to have our children and the future leaders of South Africa being at a risk of violently violated in this manner. No one has the right to disobey and violate the rights of any individual especially the Children.
We as the Congress of the People Youth Movement would like to urge and encourage all members of the community and the country as the whole to work together to fight against this mind blowing Crime and STOP the violation and abuse of our CHILDREN.
