Inequalities in Education, Unemployment and Opportunity! These words are synonymous to South Africa, and on Tuesday 15th October, i saw a first hand account of what this means.
Due to the Strike action happening in Bekkersdal, I had to make alternative accommodation arrangements for myself. So off to Rosebank I went, my place of work. As if by some twisted irony, I attended my school's cocktail party that evening, while the people back home where dodging bullets, I was busking in the glory of great company.
This made me think: Is it possible to find inspiration in places like Bekkersdal: surrounded by dumping sites, old mines and pungent air? The answer is affirmative! It is in the most uninspiring living conditions that great stories are born.
My own great story will unfold because of where i come from: Bekkersdal, when i make the choice to : RISE: Respect for thyself and opportunities given; display Integrity, offer great Service to everyone I meet, and do my job Excellently. Not all hope is lost.
Finally: South Africa has great people, let them do great things together, and our country will be great once again.
