Believers YOU are the problem

13 September 2012, 14:10

I went to bed the other night very angry about the latest murders in Libya and wondering why, yet again, innocent people have lost their lives due to religion. I wasn’t going to write this but after reading another ridiculous piece from Charles Dumbwin and some of the pathetic comments from his fellow believers, I thought why the hell not.

We are told (and most agree) that if you buy stolen goods, you are also responsible for any hurt and/or death caused in the obtaining of those stolen goods. After all it is obvious that if there was no market for stolen goods then goods would not be stolen. Using this sound logic I put it to you that any atrocity committed by any religious persons falls directly on the shoulders of every religious person regardless of the religion they follow.

Now before Sean jumps on his high horse and starts with the atheist genocide angle of Stalin and Pol Pot, I just want to point out two things. Firstly, they weren’t carried out in the name of atheism, they happened to be carried out by atheists who never once said “I kill you in the name of atheism” or went into battle carrying an atheist flag. Secondly, these regimes were vehemently opposed by atheist and religious alike, which is why they no longer exist today. The same can’t be said about religious regimes who always shout religious freedom when people oppose them.

Now back to my initial point, a bunch of Muslims got angry because a Christian made a movie which insults Mohammed. The result, as we know, is the death of innocent embassy workers in Libya. So who’s to blame? Well in my opinion every religious person on the planet because quite frankly if there was no religion then those people who were murdered would still be alive. If there was no Judaism there would be no Christianity and if there was no Christianity then there would be no Islam and if there was no Islam there would be no dead embassy workers.

So the next time you hear of a child being molested by a priest OR a woman’s genitals being mutilated OR honour killings OR doctors being bombed for performing abortions OR woman not being allowed to drive OR homosexuals being beaten to death OR children dying because their parents relied on prayer rather than a doctor OR a suicide bomber killing innocents OR rockets blowing up civilians in Lebanon OR the multitude of other atrocities carried out daily around the world because of religion. Look in the mirror and say “it’s partly my fault because if I didn’t believe, this would not have happened” and if every believer did this and stopped believing then guess what? No more religious atrocities, it really is that simple!
