Glad i'm not in South Africa

22 November 2010, 13:16  - Alan
Yes I am a South African living abroad. I left in April 2008.

My only regret is that I didn’t leave 20 years ago. All I miss about SA is the good weather, friends and family.

I got so sick and tired of the continuous barrage of discriminatory comments everywhere you read. If the black people are so forgiving, why is there this hatred which exists against white people?

Personally I don’t hold much of a future for SA, which is the reason why I got out. If my children aren’t able to get acceptance to high learning facilities when they clearly have good grades and they aren’t able to get a job, let alone a decent one, then what is the use of staying in that country?

It has been difficult adapting to doing everything yourself, for example the gardening, cleaning etc, but your home is your own home. You don’t have these employees of yours, complaining of toothache, and asking for loans, and not turning up to work. My life is now so simpler.

I currently work offshore in an African country and I get on very well with the locals people there. It’s interesting to note, that the black people here do not like the black people from SA. This country has also been through the same colonial rule as SA yet these people are totally different in their thinking and ways.

All those people in SA who want to leave, but have left it too late, I hope you don’t lose your life savings, when the shit hits the fan. It’s a matter of time, and unfortunately most will deny this.
