The effects of apartheid have affected our forefathers, our fathers and our generation. Growing up as a black child we were told that all good, beautiful, complicated, appreciable and amazing things belong to the whites.
In zulu you'd hear phrases like "izinto zabelungu" (it's white people stuff) when you trying to understand something as simple as a Nokia 3310. Today I still hear my fellow blacks say things like that. We were raised to believe that things are only acceptable when they are introduced by white people to the black communities. This I must say have tremendously set back a lot of black fellows I know, that even blacks wouldn't accept something amazing coming from another black brother.
When I was in varsity e.g. I derived a new maths theorem, I took it with the proof to a black professor who immediately destroyed my thinking, telling me that what I brought was nonsense. I took the same theorem to a German professor who let me do it on the board and when I was done the words he uttered were "Elegant, so elegant!"
This is just to prove that my theorem was something new but because my fellow professor had expected it to come from a white student did not like the fact that a black student came up with this. At work places my fellow blacks automatically expect white people to lead even though they are the ones in leadership roles. We have a lot of brilliant ideas but wait for the white man to employ us to create our ideas and earn a salary from him.
My fellows, this has to change. NO, white people are not more intelligent than blacks and vice-versa; we are all the same inside, you get Einsteins in whites and you get them in blacks. So get rid of the inferiority and catch the bull by the horn. It has been proven that as I say, the roles change. In one sport, the best athlete would be white and in the next, the best would be black.
This is just to prove that yes we can. And yes, I intend to start a debate with this and do command blacks to change the attitude from this generation on and rise to be the best they were created to be. Loving all mankind.
