I wonder whether some leaders of tripartite alliance have found their road to Damascus; Rev. Frank Chikane former director-general in the presidency during Thabo Mbeki’s term, is blatantly accusing fellow ANC comrades of being sell-outs.
Meanwhile COSATU general-secretary Zwelinzima Vavi warns alliance leaders, “to wake up and smell the coffee,” as more blacks in the township are increasingly supporting Democratic Alliance.
Comrade Vavi observes that currently 5 percent of blacks nationally are voting DA.
Methinks this number will triple or quadruple come the national and provincial elections of 2014, purely because a material number of the masses are rapidly sobering up from dazzling tales of armed struggle and false promises, in that they are openingly demanding food on the table and the proverbial service delivery.
The youth particularly are deeply angry and frustrated of the unfulfilled promises by the populist ANC.
Ironically comrade Vavi who is sounding the clarion call of voters migrating to DA is complicity with ANC losing electorates by virtue of vehemently opposing Youth Wage Subsidy.
It is an open secret that COSATU selfishly opposes Youth Wage Subsidy because wages will be lowered and the youth will replace older workers with adverse consequences to low skilled older workers who make a majority of COSATU membership.
On the other hand Rev. Chikane is only now verbalizing and preaching what is common knowledge that his comrades, young and old, struggle for power to gain control of tenders, finish and klaar.
Rev. Chikane says his ANC comrades uses political power for self –interest, not to better the lives of the people who vote for ANC religiously come elections.
He warned that his ANC comrades should not lie to people that they are still fighting apartheid.
‘It is about self interest and personal gain and the triple F’s – friends, family and factions.”
The words of comrade Vavi will prove prophetic in a not to distant a future where he said: ‘One day we will call someone president Zille.”
