I was home this past weekend when my wife's colleague came to visit us. As usual she came along with her 6 (six) year old daughter who attends whites school. My daughter of 6 (six) and her know each other since it was not her first visit. As usual they played along and then came a time that my daughter failed to construct a proper English sentence.
Here is the surprise, the group that was there together with my wife laughed at that/ her or shall I say what she said.
Here is the question, what is funny between a 6 year old black girl who can't construct a proper English sentence but can speak her home language fluently and a 6 year old black girl who speaks English fluently but cannot speak her own home language?
I may be behind syllabus, when other people say, but it seems like the more blacks become financial advantage, the more they forget about their culture. I've seen more children recently who cannot speak their home language and when I ask the parents say it is because they attend whites school.
HERE ARE FEW QUESTIONS FOR YOU:
1. Did we fight for equal rights because we were ashamed of our culture or because we wanted to be treaded the same as whites?
2. Do say you are proudly African/Black if and when you don't allow your own child to speak your own home language?
3. What will you say is your child's home language, Xitsonga or English because your child cannot speak your home language but English only?
4. Are ashamed of who you are?
Please guys stop being ashamed of yourselves, you did not choose to be black and to be born from that ethnic group. Be proud of yourselves guys, I am and to show that I say: "Ndza tinyungubyisa hi kuva mutsonga wa Africa".
