Listening to the accusations, denials, counter-accusations and blatant lies told by so many politicians, globally, not only in South Africa, it occurred to me that there are many expressions which could accurately describe the ensuing confusion.
The ability to accomplish different tasks with either hand, with equal ease, is defined by the single word ambidextrous. It is a derivative from the Latin, meaning, literally, both are favourable or favoured.
This is obviously a useful skill for many professions, but I wonder particularly about the relevance to our current crop of politicians, given the above literal meaning.
Taking it literally then, how is it possible to be truly ambidextrous when the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing, and vice versa? Just a thought ….
