It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the obvious; the new Super Kings are just BETTER than the relegated Lions.
Let's call a spade a space, shall we?
The Super Kings start the 2013 Super Rugby season off in style by winning game 1. They then put up two heart-stopping performances, worthy of all praise, in respective weekends against last year's finalists, the Sharks, and the reigning Super15 champions, the Chiefs.
That's a feat that the relegated Lions could only dream of in the past few seasons. Make that the past 18 years.
In fact, since the inception of the real Super Rugby tournament, the Super12, the Lions have statistically been the worst performing team of all entrants.
The Kings look every bit the part of a team worthy of their place in the Super15 tournament. They've had some amazing tries, have defended like champions and have thoroughly and truly silenced most of their critics.
Yes, it's only excepted that the bitter and twisted Lions' fans will continue to shout for any opposition who play against the Kings (unpatriotic sods), but that really is the caliber of supporter that dons that under-achieving Lions jersey.
Some people still think that later this year, when the promotion/relegation match is played, that the Lions will simply thrash the Kings and get their place back in next year's tournament.
Don't count your chickens before they hatch, Lions supporters. Cause from the looks of things, the trail-blazing Kings look set to win that encounter and stay in Super Rugby.
