My granddaughter applied for her first ID on Friday. When they finally reached the desk my daughter asked if she is going to get a new ID card, the answer was no as they don’t have any she will get an ID book. So why were we told that the new ID cards are available, and it would replace the green book only to find out that this is another government rip off! This was at the Centurion branch in West Street! Apparently there was a lot of people turned away, what the hell is going on? Is it only the higher up’s that have ID cards now or did we get the dates wrong because as far as I know it was to be from end July that this would fall into place? My daughter is a single parent and she had to take a day off work to do this, I know the first ID is free so she’s going to have to fork out money when the new cards eventually arrive at an extra cost and take another day off work to apply for the card!
They then went to the licence department to go and book the child’s learners, on the website it says any proof of ID so my daughter produced the kid’s birth certificate and showed her the forms that they applied for her ID. The woman behind the counter was so rude and started screaming at her telling her she needs an ID book, so why say any proof of ID, surely a birth certificate is proof and you have proof from Home affairs as well.
People need to be more courteous and need to be more professional when dealing with the public, but I forgot it’s all a power play when you stand behind glass because you would have had a couple of black eyes they way you treat people!
