Censorship & MyNews24

30 July 2013, 17:45

The subject of censorship on the My News 24 Forum regarding the articles submitted by users refers.

I recently uploaded an article for submission which evidently was rejected for publication. This was the second such article I've compiled which has found its way into the bin, in a manner of speaking.

Now I'm aware that articles are declined for various reasons, personal attacks, discriminatory or prejudicial to certain parties or groups ( although some do get through) and for more innocuous reasons such as there are better articles in the 'pool'  from which to choose. Also, that everyone be given an equal opportunity to have a story published.

So no problem with these arguments at all. If my said article was based on some insipid special interest topic, such as gardening for example, I also would accept the rejection as being valid, as the subject matter would not be one of general interest, the idea being that it should appeal to a broader readership.

However, when I submit an article which is not only in the public interest as it impacts all levels of society, so its not merely academic, a topic not given the public prominence  it deserves because of the threat to vested interests, namely, the political and corporate agenda, this is regarded  as censorship.

It seems to be in order to accept  articles that can be viewed as slightly contentious in a general way, but the moment fingers can be pointed in specific directions that includes clear details the subject matter is out of bounds. Some of my articles involve some investigation on my part, and is not merely a link to a specific website, so it cannot be regarded as just speculative personal opinion.

I've noticed that my news 24 carries a lot of  articles of a racial and religious bent, and while I have no objection to this, (except those of a derogatory nature) as this is a public forum, one must wonder about the intentions of  my news 24's management in serving up topics that serve as a distraction, while ignoring the real issues of the day.

Majority poverty

Being a majority has its advantages and disadvantages, based on various aspects of demographics the citizenry. As far as services are concerned it will always be the minority who will benefit most from government as their numbers can be serviced with the least of money, amenities in their areas will last longer be kept in working order better because of the low demand for it, while on the other hand in the areas of majority it is the excessive usage of services which causes numerous breakdowns and eventually no services. Read more...
