Christian Numbers Dwindling, Oh No!
Many atheists are thrilled and motivated by the news of dwindling numbers of Christians worldwide and even here in SA. They are truly celebrating this news and think that they are winning in their ultimate goal for the eradication of Christianity (albeit together with all other forms of religion).
Interestingly enough, they overlook the fact that what they are celebrating TODAY is the fulfilment of LONG FORETOLD prophecies recorded in the Bible thousands of years ago! They are actually celebrating the fulfilment of Bible prophecies! How ironic!
The “bronze-aged” book, as they so ignorantly call it, accurately foretells of current day situations and even of times still to come! Yes, the Bible accurately warns of these compromising days of many “believers”, days of trial and testing, of many ABANDONING faith and belief in God. How could the Bible be so accurate in its predictions of the current day scenario? The Bible paints a NEGATIVE picture of many end-time Christians. Why would it do so, if not speaking the very TRUTH?
1Ti 4:1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,
1Ti 4:2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron
2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;
2Ti 4:4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
Mat 24:12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.
Atheists gleefully say that we are in the technological age and the information age, and that the instant availability of vast amounts of information today equals the eventual demise of religion.
Yet a very devout and highly religious Jew, Daniel, who was given very specific information on the END TIMES, foretold that this increase in knowledge would be the case in the end times anyway. Yes, increased knowledge, many running to and fro in search of ever more knowledge (in research, in reading up, in googling it!). However, increase of knowledge does not necessarily equal knowledge of TRUTH. Either way, how did Daniel know this so many thousands of years ago?
Dan 12:4 "But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase."
This is indeed a vast topic, end-time Bible prophecies and their fulfilment, and warrants research and investigation. It is amazing how different Bible authors, both Old and New Testament authors, were correct in their prophecies, which are being fulfilled today. How could they have possibly known, if not revealed to them by the Spirit of God?
The main point of this article however, is to focus on but two aspects of what is being fulfilled today, and that is the falling away of many from faith (as witnessed statistically and through the media), and also the increase of knowledge (but not necessarily of truth). As I asserted before, this has already been foretold in the Bible, and all who are celebrating the dwindling numbers of Christians today are celebrating the accuracy and fulfilment of Bible prophecies. And for Christians ever faithful, whose numbers will never cease, this is of no concern. Remain faithful and push ever forward in Christ! Paul’s words to young Timothy ring true to all of us today, whether young or old:
2Ti 3:13 But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.
2Ti 3:14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them,
2Ti 3:15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
2Ti 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
2Ti 3:17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
