Christianity and the State

30 May 2014, 13:27
As we who profess to be believers of God, it should be our mandate to uphold the principles which God has put forth. It is of great concern to find other professed Christians desiring religion to have a say within the political arena. But the question is, what does scripture itself say? And are we willing to repeat the same mistakes or errors that the Catholic fathers did in the past? Forgetting the blood that was shared fighting the injustices of the Church of Rome [Roman Catholic Church], that is, the Antichrist power?

Christ himself set the principle in the scriptures. For he said to the Pharisees who were asking Him if it were lawful to pay tax to Caesar; "Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's"- Matthew 22:21. He makes the distinction between Caesar, the representative of the State, and the religion of God, showing that they're separate and should be that way. Same principle Christ drawn is to be put into effect. To combine these two is just a recipe for disaster. History is a testimony of this fact.

Pilate the representative of the state said to the Jews desiring the death of Christ: "Then said Pilate unto them, Take ye him [Christ],and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death" unfortunately this separation of state and the church was betrayed by both Pilate and the Priests, which inevitably led to the crucifixion of the true Son of God. See how the result are? Not even going far, remember the dark ages? When the real Christians, the reformers were persecuted by the Roman Church which had fallen from true principle of Christianity? When pagan doctrines were adopted to them that those who wanted to follow a thus saith the Lord were persecuted for truth? Many Christians died at the hand of the papacy between her rule for about 1260 years as the Bible predicted of this fallen church. How then shall we want them to combine? We cannot advocate this.

The state should not advocate how people should worship God nor should the church seek to control how the state should run a country. Let there be a separation, clear and distinct, between the systems. For by thus promoting church and state, we actually breaking the principle God which he had made regarding this matter, and also betraying that which the protestants fought for.
