Church Clothes

13 June 2014, 13:27
I had to go dig deep into the News24 archives to find this absolutely delightful article written by a Christian troll years ago named Nancy Kay.
I am posting this for all the newcomers to read so they can experience what fun we used to have on MyNews24. It was the age of creative trolling.
Wear your Sunday best to Church
by Nancy Kay
"Some people tell me I am too old to appreciate the ‘modern trend’ of casual clothes in Church. How wrong these people are! The Church is most certainly NOT a place for sloppy dressing nor a lackadaisical attitude.

I put the question to you: what would you wear if you were to meet the Queen? Yes, I knew you would NEVER answer with ‘jeans and a T-shirt’! And what would you wear to your son or daughter’s wedding?

Now, I ask you, who is more important, the Queen, your children, or God? We know the answer to that one, so why would you think it is acceptable to wear your second best to Church on Sunday?

Maybe you think that is just my opinion, but it is not, and I can back it up with Scriptures.

In Leviticus 22:22 we read:  “Do not offer to the Lord the blind, the injured or the maimed, or anything with warts or festering or running sores. Do not place any of these on the altar as an offering made to the Lord by fire.”

Is this not the same as saying, “Offer to the Lord your very, very best”?

Lets unpack this by reading deeper into Biblical sources and looking at Deuteronomy 22:5:

“A woman shall not wear a man’s garment, nor shall a man put on a woman’s cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God.”

I personally NEVER wear pants. Pants are un-feminine and were subtly forced onto women by the radical feminist movement last century. Pants on a woman signify rebellion and abomination. I will not go on about the radical feminist movement, suffice to say that they are very UN-feminine, and men (and God) do not appreciate women wearing pants. Its just not right.

If God does not like pants on a woman, then quite clearly we should not wear them, especially to Church. Let us not forget that those who seek the TRUE doctrines of the Bible should seek to “abstain from all appearance of evil”. (1 Thess. 5:22).”

Without question, God is not pleased with those who rebel against His revealed Word. If you were TRULY a follower of Christ you would dress as if you about to meet the King of Kings every Sunday, and actually, you are"
