With another heat-wave affecting many parts of the country, electricity supplies seem to be under severe strain, yet City Power appears to have more issues than Eskom, believe it or not, starting with answering their phones at the Call Centre. First attempt to get a reply was 20 minutes, second attempt is still ongoing at 43 minutes and counting…
It’s not for me – my son lives in Lyndhurst, came out of hospital today, needs oxygen and cannot handle the heat as he has cystic fibrosis. The power went off at around 4.00am and has affected the whole area. No power means no cell phone contact as he is renting and has no land line.
I counted the list of areas experiencing an ‘outage’ – given by an automated voice. There are 20 areas. Soothing music and an assurance that ‘we are currently experiencing high call volumes please hold ….’ don’t really help after almost an hour.
Maybe some of the funds paid by various parastatals for the privilege of providing breakfast and other meetings with our great breeder could be better used – maybe …? For systems upgrades perchance or for the employment of people who know what they are doing and who actually do their job instead of outsourcing to expensive consultants …..
But then what do I know? I’m only a taxpayer, concerned citizen and worried mother – all irrelevant.
