JUST AS YOU ARE
May be you are asking, “Can the LORD accept me?” That is not the question you should be asking. The question is, “Will you accept Christ? Will you receive him?” The LORD says, “I will never turn away anyone who comes to me.” The LORD does not turn you away, but you turn him away. The handle of the door is on the inside. It is you who have closed the door and it is you who must open it and invite the Savior inside your heart. No one should ask suspicious questions on whether sinners are allowed to come to Christ or not. Christ is for sinners and for sinners only. In fact, invitation to come to Christ is sent to sinners only. It is them that are bidden to come. To find the Savior you, practically, have to just accept him.
If you were sick and the doctor stood before you with medicine already prepared, would you say, “What must I do with this medicine, sir? Must I rub the outside of the bottle with my hand?” No matter how sick you are, I am certain you wouldn’t ask such questions. You would know exactly what to do with medicine. All you have to do with medicine is to take it. Simple take the medicine. You don’t even need to make the medicine work for your sickness. All you have to do is to take the medicine. It is just the same with Christ. Take him, accept him, receive him. You cannot do any good works now – your soul is sick and lost. You need Christ. But most certainly, you will do good works after you have received Christ. And yes, you will live a holy life, after you have received Christ. In order to live a holy life, you will need a new heart and to get a new heart, you have to receive Christ.
All you have to do now – is to receive Christ, accept him, believe on his name. In fact, that is the only thing you are capable of doing. You don’t have to give Christ anything; you are to take all from him. You are not to bring anything to the LORD, you should come to him just as you are – and he will give you everything you need. When you have accepting him by the simple act of faith – you will know, without any doubt, that you have found Jesus. That is the believers’ testimony – and a very good one.
