For a long time now I have been reading articles written by ordinary people like myself and those that make a living (reporters and journalists) out of this. Also comments from some that have never published I believe....there are many, I can tell from all the thumbs up and down's......
Now something that really irritates me is the fact that (not all) but in some cases, when a person do not have a proper way to respond to either an article or comment they will insult that person's grammar/spelling or rather the lack there off. Is this because you don't have a proper response and you still feel that you need to say something or is this really insignificant issue really bothering you so much and why is this..?
Many of the people reading and commenting on News24 might come from a very different back round or race and therefore speak a different language from you. Like myself, English is only a second language. And so, now I wonder...my friend, you with the snotty remarks...please...write us an article in either Afrikaans or one of our many other langauges out there like Xhosa and such and let the rest of us judge you....
Personally, I am sure I will get away with reading and understanding Eng/Afr and might even have a bit of understanding for Xhosa so to speak, but as for the rest.....Andiyazi (means...I don't know)...So yes, this is where my expertise with all this stops. Even my domestic worker, I am ashamed to say, knows two more languages than I do..her own, that of her husband and Eng and Afr...she might not be able to write it or understand the last two so well as that of her own, but she beats me by far...especially because she is one of the so called un-schooled out there.
So, please....with your next article or comments, try and do this in another langauge (at least more than 10 sentences) and also remember...No help from your Afrikaans or other friends...that's called crooking ne!
Come on...I dare you!!
But know this....if you do, I will look past your grammar and spelling mistakes and say...
WELL DONE!!!
PS: Just in case you want to know...nobody crapped on my head for any of my writings before, anywhere...just in case you think I am writing this because this happened to me...however, I am sure if I go back or even in this article there might be a few error's....
So, be nice and just bare with us OK!
