Something that I've been thinking about a lot lately is people commenting on social media about whatever they think they know about something.
No matter where you play on the internet, there is always a comment section where you can blow off steam. If you go on news sights and browse through the comments, it’s a race war that would make the hardest of hardest cringe like they haven't ever before. People comment like they’re defending the flags of their fathers back in the 1st world war, its life and death for some to prove their point of superiority over another gender, race whatever.
What is the point of all this I ask, we’re not changing the world with our 5 cents, we are creating animosity of the worst kind.
Go on to YouTube for example, a video of a dog saving a human, touching isn't it? But of course it is. Some random having an off day, says something negative and about a thousand comments follow to support the video and after about ten comments, I get bored to death. Who cares, move on, you don’t know this person, watch the video, go aaaaaaaahhhhhh and click next.
My personal favourite, the Atheist vs. Christians war, yes a war to defend either that there is a god or there isn't. I mean if you want to inflate your ego and be one of those comments and I can get the most likes chasers, write something about the existence of God or that he is just a figment of your imagination and KA-BOOOOOOM, 500 plus comments sprout faster than Jack's bean stalk, it’s of a biblical proportion. The so cold trolls are out on a feeding frenzy plus the 'non-trolls’ are all eating out of the same trough trying to prove the other one wrong, with force I might add. What a colossal waste of time and energy.
Let’s not even talk about the DA vs ANC war. If you want to see racism at a level that would scare Hitler, go there, I dare you. Everyone needs to take a step back and breathe. Its cringe worthy to watch people degrade one another, for what? You’re not winning any points, believe me, on the brownie point scale, you earn nothing, zero.
I know this is not in the top ten topics of national interest, but still a part of our on-line journey.
