While a small fraction of the human population tries to convince themselves that there’s no God, we must oppose this little uprising to ensure proper education for our children.
There was much commentary last week about this issue - whether or not to allow religious education in schools. This debate will continue indefinitely I imagine.
Some very good points were raised as this issue was hotly debated, one specifically spoke of the teachings of religion in the context of education; historically, socially and technologically, and it’s this point that is of most importance in this ongoing debate.
Our human existence has progressed through thousands of years. Our species has continued to grow and learn at an alarming rate. We’ve never been more educated, more advanced than we are right now - and religion has a large part to play in this wonderful story of mankind.
Were it not for the world’s older, more traditional and recognised religions, human civilization would not be where we are today.
For someone to even consider robbing our children of a richer, fuller education, filled with religious teachings and discoveries made during religious developments throughout history, is completely absurd.
Our children are the future. They have a right to be educated with the fullness of mankind’s discoveries and philosophies. As adults, they will then make up their own minds, but to deprive them now of a full, all encompassing education, is utterly foolish to say the least.
Regardless of my specific faith, I will stand alongside other faiths to affirm the need for religious instruction in schools throughout the child’s education.
If atheists wish to incorporate their religious faith in school teachings, then so be it. I won’t be like them, judging and condemning, but will rather tolerate their beliefs as well.
I wish for our future, our children, to be properly and thoroughly educated.
Keep teaching religion in schools to ensure a better, informed society.
