Corruption is Great!

03 April 2014, 12:16

This is the message that the people of South Africa will be sending to politicians if the the ANC’s strangle hold on local politics is not significantly reduced during the next election.

Don’t be a fool, Nkandla was not a “mistake”. It was a Test.

Zuma and the ANC are testing the South African public to see what kind of reaction we have to this blatant abuse of power. If the majority of us just say “eish” and accept it, it will be the beginning of the end.  It will be the signal to every Member of Parliament that they can get away with corruption on any scale because the public are apathetic. Unconnected and ousted politicians will be sacrificed from time-to-time to keep the public at bay, but in truth the corruption will be deeply embedded in the political culture.

Demonstrations, newspaper articles, blogs, highway adverts, discussions with friends at work and articles (like this one) will have no impact on their behaviour. The only way for the public to send a signal to the ANC is to not vote for them.

The ANC did a great job of liberating South Africa and then carefully guiding it down a path to reconciliation and peace. But that job is now over and they are left with the job of actually governing a country. Don’t be afraid what you might see if you remove the proverbial wool from your eyes. There is no one left to liberate; there is only a great country to govern.

Nkandla is a snowball at the top of the hill; the snowball has gained some momentum already. It’s time to take out your flame-throwers and vaporise it by voting for anyone except the ANC on May 7th.

It’s time we showed the ANC that we do care about South Africa!
