The news surrounding DStv bringing more channels to our screens as they migrate to a new, higher capacity satellite was supposed to bring more joy to all DStv subscribers, but compact viewers’ hopes will be dashed as they won’t be beneficiaries of the so called ‘exciting changes’.
It baffles me when Multichoice say “DStv will be embarking on an extensive communication and marketing campaign leading up to 1 October 2012, ensuring all its subscribers are informed of the upcoming changes.”
The only changes that the Compact subscriber will see is channel order being reshuffled. HD PVR and Premium subscribers will be the one’s benefiting from the new channels and it brings so much frustration when they don’t mention that in their adverts.
“Our focus is on continually improving the viewing experience for all our customers and we believe that as of 1 October, that experience will truly be so much more,” said Collins Khumalo. From what I gather the above statement is void of all truth, to reel off words is in a poor taste.
DStv should be clear in their campaign because what they are doing at the moment is creating false hope for some of their customers.
However with more channels to be added, which will see the number of HD channels going to 14, but I still find no reason to be excited. As it is I’m sick to my stomach with so called more 100 channels when I only watch news and sport.
When will we start choosing the channels that we want, hence building our own bouquets instead of paying so much for some of the channels that we don’t need?
I want to select and pay for what I want to watch like they do in other civilized countries. Quite frankly as it stands, what good do channels such as Africa magic do to me?
As the new channels come in, the likes of M-Net Movies Premiere, M-Net Movies Action +, M-Net Movies Family, M-Net Movies Comedy, M-Net Movies Drama and Romance, and M-Net Movies Showcase, don’t be surprised to see repeats after so much hype.
